PLAGIARISM POLICY STATEMENT

The Journal of Multidisciplinary Vocational (JOMVOC) is committed to publishing original research and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous plagiarism checking through automated plagiarism detection software (Turnitin) before being sent for peer review.

DEFINITION OF PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is defined as the use of others' published and unpublished ideas or words (or other intellectual property) without attribution or permission, and presenting them as new and original rather than derived from an existing source. This applies to all forms of text, figures, images, multimedia, and other materials

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

The journal recognizes the following forms of plagiarism

1. Direct Plagiarism: Verbatim copying of text without proper attribution and quotation marks.

2. Self-Plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of one's own previously published work without acknowledging the source.

3. Mosaic Plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from a source without using quotation marks or finding new ways to express the same meaning.

4. Insufficient Paraphrasing: Changing a few words and phrases while retaining the essential content of the source.

5. Ghost Writing: Submitting research work written by others and claiming it as one's own

PLAGIARISM DETECTION

All manuscripts submitted to JOMVOC undergo the following screening process

1. Initial Screening: All submissions are screened using Turnitin plagiarism detection software.

2. Acceptable Similarity Index: The journal accepts manuscripts with a similarity index of less than 20%, excluding references and common phrases.

3. Manual Review: Even if the similarity index is low, editors conduct manual checking to ensure proper citation and referencing.

CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM;If plagiarism is detected, the following actions may be taken

1. Pre-publication Detection:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript
- Authors will be notified with evidence of plagiarism
- Authors may be blacklisted from submitting to the journal

2. Post-publication Detection:
- Paper will be retracted with a retraction notice
- Authors' institutions will be notified
- Authors will be banned from submitting future manuscripts
- Public announcement of plagiarism case may be made

AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Authors submitting to JOMVOC must:

1. Ensure all submitted work is original and properly cited

2. Obtain permission for using copyrighted material

3. Acknowledge all sources of data used in the research

4. Declare any potential conflicts of interest

5. Retain raw data and other documentation for a reasonable period after publication

PREVENTION GUIDELINES

To avoid plagiarism, authors should:

1. Use quotation marks for exact phrases from other sources

2. Properly paraphrase when summarizing others' work

3. Cite all sources, including:
- Direct quotes
- Paraphrased ideas
- Data and statistics
- Figures and images
- Online sources

4. Keep detailed records of all sources consulted

APPEAL PROCESS

Authors who wish to appeal a plagiarism decision must:

1. Submit a formal written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief

2. Provide detailed evidence supporting their case

3. Wait for the Editorial Board's review and final decision

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

The journal follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling plagiarism cases. All investigations are conducted fairly and transparently, with appropriate opportunity given to authors to respond to any allegations.
